Sep. 23 2021 Geographical By The RV Guys

There seems to be no end in sight to the Covid-19 health crisis, but RV vacationing is still quite safe if you take the right precautions. Many of us aren’t interested in planning a whole bunch of long-distance traveling until the worst parts of the pandemic are behind us, and that’s completely understandable. But there’s no place like home, and the Lone Star State is one of the best places in the world to take a safe and appropriately distanced “stay-cation” with the family! Everything’s bigger in Texas, including the new memories that you’ll create at these great vacation spots this summer. To learn more about RV vacationing, come visit The RV Guys in Valley View, Texas. We proudly serve RV lovers in North Texas.

Big Bend National Park

If you want great hiking and amazing views of the Rio Grande, Big Bend National Park offers over 800,000 acres of scenic beauty! Big Bend also offers several great camping options for your West Texas vacation. The national park features four campgrounds, and the Rio Grande Village RV Campground features 25 full hook-up sites. You’ll find great hiking trails near the Chisos Canyon Campground and a lot of great private campgrounds in the surrounding areas. The park gets busy during spring break and the holidays, but you can find great camping year-round in the Big Bend area.

Padre Island National Seashore

The Padre Island National Seashore spans over 130,000 acres and includes several great Texas Gulf coast camping options. Padre Island is the longest undeveloped barrier island in the world and offers plenty of camping right on the beach. The Malaquite Campground at Padre Island includes 48 sites with partial hook-ups and bath and shower facilities near the beach. Be sure to head to Bird Island Basin while you’re in the area if you want to try your hand and windsurfing!

Palo Duro Canyon State Park

RV vacationers in the North Texas area are already quite familiar with this relatively unknown gem. Palo Duro Canyon State Park is commonly known as “the Grand Canyon of Texas,” and one of the top attractions in the Panhandle. Amarillo is also only a half an hour away. There are multiple campgrounds throughout Palo Duro Canyon, including the Juniper, Sagebrush and Hackberry Campgrounds. All three campgrounds include partial hookups and are conveniently located at opposite ends of the park. If you have a larger-sized RV or motor home, the Sagebrush and Hackberry Campgrounds can accommodate RVs up to 60 feet in length.
